Mr. Mason represents the best traditions of Howard University. Like many Howard graduates who are leaders at the highest levels of the world’s most impactful organizations, his commitment to excellence inspires managerial innovation throughout his company and industry. His experience and perspective are uniquely relevant to the challenges facing corporate America and our broader society today. Most importantly, he continues to embody truth and service, demonstrating through example how the nation’s most influential executives can use their platforms to uplift the communities in which they are engaged.

We are excited for Mr. Mason to deliver the keynote address at this year’s Opening Convocation. His near four decades as a member of the Howard family provide him a unique perspective of the University and its history, and his last decade-plus as a trustee speaks to his dedication to his Alma Mater and its core tenets. I expect his insight to resonate throughout the entire University community.

As a reminder, to facilitate campuswide participation in this year's Opening Convocation, classes will be suspended from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow, September 13. Tickets are not required. We look forward to seeing you there as we celebrate one of our University’s time-honored traditions.
