Congratulations to Our Bison Football Team for a Strong 2023 Season

 

Dear Howard University Community,

Please join me in giving hearty congratulations to our Howard Bison football team on completing a terrific season and earning a trip to the 2023 Cricket Celebration Bowl!

I know I speak for the thousands of Bison faithful who were in Mercedes-Benz Stadium today when I say how immensely proud we all are of this team, its coaches, the support staff and dedicated family and friends who have cheered them throughout the season. And I am sure that the countless Bison fans watching the nationally televised game were just as pleased to see our team represent the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and be among the best in Black college football.

I’d like to acknowledge Head Coach Larry Scott, his staff and our student-athletes for the many ways they have represented us this year. I’d also like to congratulate sophomore defensive back Kenny Gallop, who was named the 2023 MEAC Defensive Player of the Year. Today’s bowl appearance, in conjunction with such accolades, solidifies the 2023 Bison team among the best in Howard’s history, laying the foundation for sustained excellence on the field for years into the future.

I also want to thank Athletic Director Kery Davis for leading the resurgence of our athletic programs. From football to basketball, swimming and diving, to track and field, Howard University is showing the world we are both an academic and athletic powerhouse. For that, Director Davis deserves tremendous credit. I look forward to witnessing the continued evolution of our athletic programs over the months and years to come.
