Faculty and Staff Engagement Survey announcement

Dear Howard University Community,

As I continue my Bison Engagement Tour, it is my pleasure to announce our partnership with Gallup to administer a faculty and staff employee engagement survey this January.

For over 40 years, Gallup has studied what matters most to employees, educators, and students, in addition to how engagement influences campuses. Gallup has developed and refined its tools to help individuals grow within their roles. Gallup will partner alongside Howard University, using its resources to help explore our engagement and well-being factors.

With Gallup, Howard University will have a strategic partner deeply committed to improving the engagement levels of our staff, faculty, managers, and leaders. Gallup has studied over 42 million employees and their emotional connection to and overall engagement with their workplace.

In higher education, Gallup finds that engaged employees are less likely to leave their institution. Moreover, engaged employees accrue lower healthcare expenses, have fewer absences, and are likelier to recommend their institution as a place of employment. Meanwhile, on the academic side, faculty engagement is predictive of quality student experiences, as well as successful scholarship and research.

We look forward to partnering with Gallup to sustain both a positive campus culture and learning environment, one in which our employees are thriving. Thank you in advance for participating in this survey, and I look forward to hearing more about your experiences as we continue to strengthen our Howard community.

Committed to Truth and Service,

Ben Vinson III, Ph.D.
President
