Message of Thanks

Dear Howard University Staff,

This note is to thank you for the extraordinary efforts you are making to ensure the safety and security of our student body and our campus in this most difficult time.

We realize that many of you have worked late hours during the last week and over the past weekend, as well as, today, Monday, March 16, 2020. We appreciate that many of you will also step in the gap and work for the remainder of Spring Break.  For that, we are grateful!

Therefore, we will work with your managers to ensure that any essential staff that works during this week will not have 32 hours deducted from their PTO accruals as would be customary for Spring Break.  Thank you for your diligence in this matter.

In closing, please continue to follow the guidelines we published last week from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the DC Department of Health and your health care providers. If you are sick, please stay home and take the appropriate actions to protect yourself, our campus community and your families.

Excellence in Truth and Service,

Wayne A. I. Frederick, M.D., MBA
Howard University President
