Thank You for a Successful Commencement 2024

Dear Howard University Community, 

As we reflect on last week’s Commencement exercises, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the collective spirit and unwavering support demonstrated by each member of our esteemed community. It is with immense pride and humility that I extend my heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the success of commencement events throughout the week and the 156th Commencement Convocation on Saturday, May 11, in celebration of the largest graduation class in the history of our institution.

To the graduating Class of 2024, I offer my most heartfelt congratulations on this historic milestone. Your determination and perseverance have been nothing short of inspiring. Your achievements serve as a testament to the limitless possibilities that lie ahead, and I have no doubt that you will continue to make us proud in all your future endeavors. As you embark on this new chapter of your lives, I encourage you to carry forth the values of excellence, truth, and service that define the Howard experience. 

I am particularly honored to have presided over my first commencement as president of this esteemed institution. It has been a privilege to witness the dedication, resilience, and achievements of our graduating students. Your determination and passion are a testament to the exceptional caliber of individuals who constitute our Howard University family. 

I also extend my deepest appreciation to our administration, faculty, and staff for their unwavering commitment to nurturing the academic and personal growth of our students. Your dedication to educational excellence is the cornerstone of our institution's success, and I am profoundly grateful for your tireless efforts. 

To the families, friends, and loved ones who have supported our graduates along the way, thank you for entrusting us with the education and well-being of your cherished ones. Your encouragement and love have played an integral role in their achievements, and I am so pleased to be able to celebrate this milestone together. The outpouring of support from families and loved ones has been tremendous, which posed some capacity challenges at our campus venues. For the families who were impacted, we ask your forgiveness. Please be assured that we are committed to implementing measures that will better manage crowd capacity and enhance the overall experience of our ceremonies.

Once again, thank you for your steadfast support and dedication. I am truly honored to serve as your president, and I look forward to the continued success and growth of Howard University under our collective stewardship. Together, we will achieve maximum strength. I wish you an enriching and relaxing summer!
