Presidential Statements 2023-2024

As we continue to activate and progress on our Howard Forward strategic plan, I am pleased to share new Presidential Strategic Initiatives underway in collaboration with Provost Anthony Wutoh. Several forthcoming initiatives will be framed around supporting faculty research activities and prioritizing an improved research infrastructure.

Join me in welcoming Mrs. Duckett as our 2024 Commencement Convocation speaker, and Mr. Glover, Mr. Gray, Mr. Marriott, and Dr. Campbell Barr as our honorary degree recipients! Their insights, leadership, and dedication to excellence will undoubtedly resonate with our community as we celebrate the achievements of our graduating class.

It is with profound sadness that the Howard University community mourns the passing of United States Representative Donald Payne, Jr. This tragic loss leaves a void not only in the hallowed halls of Congress, but also in the hearts of those he served tirelessly and with unwavering dedication.

The AI initiative will address four overarching goals: ethics, equity and societal impact; research and innovation; education and skill development; and operational efficiency. These pillars will guide our efforts as we harness the transformative potential of AI for the betterment of society.

As two of the 20 program alumni selected, Parker and Whitehead serve as representatives for the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Program.
