As we rapidly approach the midpoint of the semester, it is crucial that we take a moment to reflect on our well-being and prioritize mental health as an integral part of our overall success.

Please join me in welcoming Ms. Sermons to Howard University and I look forward to you all seeing the magnificent work that will come out of our Office of University Communications under her leadership.

I am very excited to announce that we will present Suzanne Marie Randolph Cunningham, Ph.D. (BA ‘74) and Andrae Townsel, Ed.D. (BA ‘07, M.Ed. ‘09, Ed.D. ‘15) with the 2024 Alumni Award for Distinguished Postgraduate Achievement at this year’s Charter Day Dinner.

Throughout his storied but tragically short time on earth, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. established a strong bond with us here at Howard University. While Dr. King was unequivocally a Morehouse Man, he embodied Howard’s core values of excellence, leadership, truth, and service.

I extend my personal congratulations to Evan Quaintance on being selected as one of this year’s Schwarzman Scholars. His commitment to academic endeavors makes him an exemplar of Howard’s commitment to excellence and service.

Mr. Fairfax is a passionate legal educator whose extensive scholarship and commitment to criminal justice reform are deeply aligned with the law school’s mission. We are excited to welcome Mr. Fairfax to the Howard University community.

As I continue my Bison Engagement Tour, it is my pleasure to announce our partnership with Gallup to administer a faculty and staff employee engagement survey this January.
